Our Message to IPYG : International Peace Youth Group Busan

The Message on Behalf of Press for Peace (PFP), Jammu and Kashmir

We all at Press for Peace (PFP) are very happy to know that International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) is holding the Victory Cup Cricket League in Busan, South Korea to promote peace and harmony in South Asian region. This reminds us of historic sports events in this metropolitan city back in 2002 when world community had a chance to witness the skyrocketing progress of South Korea in not only the field of sports, but also,  in culture, tourism, education, and many other areas.
We congratulate and thank participating teams of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal for their wholehearted acceptance of participation in the event.  Undoubtedly, cricket is in South Asian people’s blood as it is the most favourite game of youth in this region.
We understand and fully endorse the IPYG’s vision of regional peace. Pursuing peace through youth participation in a commonly celebrated sporting activity is a unique idea. We all know that achievement of permanent peace in South Asia is linked with Kashmir issue.
It is heartening for all of us that political scene of South Asia has never been so promising for advancement of peace and harmony as it is being observed now. At present, the will and resolve of leadership in India & Pakistan is highly favourable for making progress toward sustainable peace. Promises are being made to uphold the principles of tolerance, harmony, acceptance and inclusiveness to bring normalcy in relations of nations to benefit the people of this region. Another, favourable and visible change which can be seen is the increased involvement of youth in political process of both countries.
It also means that time is ripe for a concentrated effort by all those who are directly or indirectly affected by non-settlement of an age-old dispute. It is our common belief that the worst impact of Kashmir conflict is on youth; particularly the youth of India, Pakistan and Kashmir. They wish to live a life full of colours and they also wish to prosper.
Your valuable contribution by playing cricket in order to bring back the colours of life for South Asian youth is highly commendable.  We appreciate and thank you for such a glorious and principled stance. We also thank IPYG for sponsoring this event.
