MUZAFFARABAD, Jammu and Kashmir: January 14, 2010:
More than 17 bodies of missing persons lost during four years ago devastating earthquake were found from rubbles on Thursday, officials said.
“17 dead bodies were found from debris of a passenger vain by workers of a Chinese Construction Company working on the expansion of a Road. The victims were missing since October 8, 2005 when a tragic earthquake struck the region”.
More than 73000 people were killed and three million left homeless when tremor struck Pakistan, India and Afghanistan on October 08, 2005.
The bodies were identified from the National Identity Cards found from the wreckage, officials said.
Most of the passengers were government servants, including teachers who were travelling to their offices when they were trapped by the Earthquake. The dead bodies were recovered by the rescue workers.
The wreckage of the vain has been identified by the owner, who told that coach was going to Noseeri area, in the North of Muzaffarabad from the capital city when it was buried under heavy landslides caused by the earthquake.
