PFP seeks help of peace loving nations and groups



Muzaffarabad, Jammu and Kashmir, Tuesday, 14, 2009:

Press For Peace (PFP) has called upon the international community to campaign for the protection of its activists who are being attacked and threatened by state and non-state groups.
Executive Director of PFP, Zafar Iqbal in an appeal dispatched to international human rights organizations and media said the organization’s efforts for peace are coming under such pressure that PFP is finding it difficult to operate.
Press for Peace (PFP) is an active none governmental organization in Kashmir which strives for the protection of human rights and civil liberties and prevalence of sustainable livelihood. Since last few years the PFP has actively involved in pro peace interventions to raise awareness among people about democratic norms and the culture of tolerance and harmony.

Referring to recent ‘terrorization and coercion’ of his workers, the head of PFP pledged that such pressures and harassment could not thwart the struggle for the achievement of complete peace, tolerance and harmony in our homeland, which have extremely suffered from jingoistic designs and adventurism of war loving powers and elements.
‘Such threats are coming both from state and none- state circles which apparently are furious that ‘our efforts for the prevalence of peace in Kashmir are damaging national interests of the state and our platform and the activists should be ready for consequences’, PFP appeal said.
Two weeks ago, the PFP wrote to the government of Pakistan asking for to protect local citizens from a number of banned organizations which allegedly started their reorganization in the Pakistani part of Kashmir.
He said that it is our basic human right to express and disseminate our ideas in favor of peace, tolerance and the nourishment of democratic norms in our society. ‘We categorically condemn such wicked terrorization and coercion against our activists, he further said.
He also denounced all kinds of gross human rights violations committed by state and none -state actors occurred in various parts of state of Jammu and Kashmir.
He urged world community to resolve the Kashmir conflict through peaceful means in order to achieve the sustainable and durable peace and progress in the region.

He requested all peace loving organization and nations to support his resistance to foil the designs of pro -war elements which are a permanent danger for local and global security. (PFP Report)
